Ellen Louise Groome Obituary
Ellen Louise Groome, 77, of Louisa, had her prayers answered on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, and went home to be with our Father in Heaven. Born on July 30, 1939, she will be welcomed home by her father and mother, Charles H. and Sally R. Groome; as well as her brothers, Charles H. Groome Jr., James M. Groome, and Franklin R. Groome; nephew, David W. Groome; and great-niece, Melissa Louise Nunemaker.
She leaves behind two sisters, Mary G. Best, of Louisa, Shelia G. Palmateer of Trinity, Texas; and one brother, Harold S. Groome, of Louisa. She was more than an aunt to her nieces and nephews, June Bevins, Bryan Best, Kathy Sims, Gail Best, all of Louisa, James Groome Jr., Penny Sparkman, and Melissa Groome, all of Chesterfield, Richard Groome of Richmond, Morgan Palmateer, Matthew Palmateer, both of Blacksburg, and Kelly Nunemaker of San Antonio, Texas.
She will be especially missed by her special great-nieces (babies), Kaitlyn, MacKenzie, Kaleigh Grace, Emily and Kacey Nunemaker, as well as many other great-nieces and great-great-nieces and nephews. Louise was a very special person who always had a smile and a kind word for everyone she ever met. She was a long-time employee of Louisa Manufacturing until it closed and then was employed at Food Lion for a long period.
Her final place of employment, and her favorite, was with Louisa County Public Schools as a cafeteria worker. In love with children all her life, but not personally blessed with some of her own, she cared for all the children that moved through the cafeteria line at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. With her gentle smile and her compassionate nature, she literally "mothered" them all.
She will be greatly missed by many. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Hillcrest Cemetery.
