Lawson Franklin King Obituary

We are sad to announce that on November 7, 2024, at the age of 81, Lawson Franklin King of Long Island, Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Lee King and Annie Burks King; and his sister Catherine Cullop. He is survived by: his wife Viola Virginia Dunkley; his children, Betty Peade (Barry) of South Boston, Jeanette Greer (Jason) of Evington and James King of Altavista; his stepchildren, Larry, Donald, Katherine, Barbara, Linda, Frank and Tammy; his siblings, Herbert King (Delores) of Rustburg, Betty Miller of Hurt, Ruby Childress of Long Island and Rosa Taylor of Gretna; his grandchildren, Kelsey, Dillion, John, Justin, Destiny and Courtney; and his great grandchildren, Charlotte and Wilder. He is also survived by numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, Inc. (307 Main St, Gretna, VA 24557). A graveside service was held on Sunday, November 10th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the King Family Cemetery (538 Cluster Pines Rd, Gretna, VA 24557).
