He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret Wade Hale; his parents, Ewell Franklin Hale and Rebecca Fariss Hale; and his sisters, Martha Hale and Marie Short.
He is survived by: his sons, Harry Franklin "Butch" Hale, Jr. (Judy) of Chatham and Gary Steven Hale (Carolyn) of Long Island; his grandchildren, Todd Hale (Amy Clowdis), Kristen Scott (Josh), Wade Hale and Carrie Craddock (Fred); his close friend Peggy Elliott; and his sister Grace Farmer of Gladys. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
