He was predeceased by: his parents, Nilakanta Pillai and Sarojini Pillai; and his father-in-law Robert Gill. He is survived by: his wife Karlye Pillai; his mother-in-law Hazel Huffman Gill; his daughter Dair T. Pillai; his daughter-in-law Maribel Pillai; and his grandchildren, Carlos Santana and Katelyn A. Pillai.
