He was predeceased by: his wife Nancy Mayott (Dean); his son Gregory Mayott (Jane); his siblings, George Mayott, Beatrice Erikson (Mayott), Charlotte Clarke (Mayott) and John Mayott; and his parents, Raymond Mayott and Grace Mayott.

He is survived by: his children, Stephenie Fellinger (Terry) of Fredericksburg, VA and Michael Mayott (Cheryl) of Billings, MT; his grandchildren, Julie Hamlett (Terrance), Jamie Sotzing (Jeffrey), Jeanie Carr (Frank), Jennie Whelan, IV (Edward), Travis Mayott (Gretchen), Spencer Mayott, Todd Taylor (Jami), Eric Taylor (Dana), Kimberly Benton (Daniel), Christopher DeJoe, Amanda Guillory (Tiffany), Jessica Thompson-Holliday (Isaac), Courtney Chase and Cassandra Mayott; his sister June Greathouse (Mayott) of Brocton, NY; and his sister-in-law Ruth Dean of Fredonia, NY. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Due to COVID-19 concerns the family will hold a private funeral at Johnson Funeral Home, Locust Grove, VA with internment at Salem United Methodist Church, Rhoadesville, VA.
