He was predeceased by : his parents, John Aster Buckles and Lucille Elizabeth Sykes Buckles; his brothers, Willie Buckles and Darryl Buckles; and his nephew Cameron Carter.

He is survived by : his wife Joyce Buckles; his daughters, Susan Sutherland (David "Hammer"), Shannon Buckles and Sara Steffey (Junior); his sister Wanda Buckles Williams; his granddaughter Roxanne Buckles; his niece Courtney Phillips; his nephew Troy Carter (Cathy); his great-niece Summer Carter; and his close friends, Jerry and Amy Street.
