He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Shortt and Bernice Viola Hale Shortt; and his caregiver Faye Deskins. He is survived by: his sister Gayle Alexander (Daniel); his nieces, Robbin Keaton (Donald), Megan, Morgan, Brandi, Kandi and Chloe; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Colt, Holden, Harmony, Clyde and Hope.

A funeral service was held on Monday, January 27th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Hughes Cemetery.
