He was predeceased by : his parents, Garnett Smith and Bessie Cox; and his siblings, Carl, Garland, Shelby, Perry, Buford Cox, Marvin Cox, Jerry Cox and Bonnie Carpenter.

He is survived by : his daughter Vickie Perkins (Cox); his granddaughter Kayla Beavers (Tim); and his siblings, Gailen Cox, Joan Dickenson and Tena Earls.

Visitation was held on Friday, June 28th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Owens Funeral Service (7 Tate Ave, Lebanon, VA 24266). A funeral service was held on Friday, June 28th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
