It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Clara Sue Hughes of Lebanon, Virginia, who passed away on January 29, 2025, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though Clara Sue may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Clara Sue touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Herbert and Mildred Ruth Kendrick Combs; and her husband James Warner Hughes Jr.. She is survived by: her children, Clara Marlene Breeding (Tommy Joe), James Edward Hughes and John David Hughes (Debra); her grandchildren, Erica Lynn Harvey (Sam), Joseph Warner Frenchman Breeding, Lauren Kathleen Hughes and Allison Grace Hughes; her great grandchild Benson Rhett Harvey; and her sister Darleen Ruth Joiner.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Forest Hills Memory Gardens (19415 Lee Hwy, Abingdon, VA 24210).
