He was predeceased by: his former wife Virginia Denton Dickenson; his brother Henry; his grandson Parker O'Connell; and his parents, Henry H. Dickenson Sr. and Margaret DeBord Dickenson.

He is survived by: his wife Linda Honaker Dickenson of Abingdon; his sister Kathryn Dickenson Johnson of Abingdon; his children, Angela Dickenson O'Connell of Plano, Charles Edward Dickenson, Jr. of Milton and John Ashley Dickenson of Southlake; his children-in-law, Terry A. O'Connell, Jennifer L. Dickenson and Tiffany N. Dickenson; and his grandchildren, Katherine Dickenson of Virginia, Elizabeth Anne Dickenson, William Charles Dickenson, Ashley Giles Dickenson and Caroline Storey Dickenson.

Flowers may be sent to Lebanon Memorial United Methodist Church or in lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted to plant a tree in memory of Charles at the Lebanon Post Office.
