She was predeceased by: her parents, James Battle and Betsey Hicks-Battle; her husband Theodore Penn Sr. (Otis); her son Ernest Penn; and her stepson Theodore Penn Jr..
She is survived by: her stepdaughter Georgia Stallings; her grandsons, Calvin Jarrett and Otis; her great great grandchild Rhasheed Wheeler; her stepgranddaughter Karen Robinson; her siblings, Seymore Battle, James Battle, Mamie Grant and Isabella Jones; her daughters, Elnora Jarrett of Lawrenceville, VA and Eliza Walker of Providence, RI; her friends, Barbara Newell and Elaine Perkins; and also Tierra Walker. She is also survived by twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-five great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; one great great great grandson.
