He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvey Edmond and Clyde Belle Alderman Sutphin; his son Tony Sutphin; and his brother Ed Sutphin. He is survived by: his wife Gail B. Sutphin; his daughter Bumblebee; his son-in-law Shannon Hicks; his son Michael; his daughter-in-law Kelly Sutphin; and his grandchildren, Zeb Hicks, Tony Hicks, Wilford Hicks, Josiah Hicks, Zeke Hicks, Tom Sutphin, Emma Oakes, Hannah Greer and Daniel Sutphin. He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel (1035 N Main St, Hillsville, VA 24343). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 at the C. B. Webb Cemetery.
