He was predeceased by: his parents, John Krainock and Audrey Krainock; and his siblings, Margaret Krainock and William Krainock. He is survived by: his girlfriend Barbara Paris; his girlfriend's son Steve Paris (Katherine) of Hague, VA; his daughter Janet Panopulos (James) of San Jose, CA; his grandchildren, Casey Lambert of Ruther Glen, VA, Jonathan Paris of Fredericksburg, VA, Vasili Panopulos of San Jose, CA and Gregory Panopulos of San Jose, CA; and his great grandchildren, Chelsea, Madisyn, Wesley and Liam.
John served as Treasurer for Richmond and Westmoreland Counties Habitat for Humanity, President and Vice President of National Active Retired Federal Employees Northern Neck Chapter 1823, President of Westmoreland County Education Foundation.
