She was predeceased by: her father Tipton Maples; her husband Ellis Rudolph Cooney; and her siblings, Jim, Don Maples and Juanita Brooks.
She is survived by: her children, Steve Cooney (Mary) of Pennington Gap, VA, Mona Lisa Young (Steve) of Jonesville, VA and Vanessa Hammonds of Jonesville, VA; her grandchildren, Candace Dufour (Brian), Kristan Cooney, Jackson Cooney, Ashley Bruner (Jordan), Lesley Meyer (Garret), Tyler Hammonds and Katie Hammonds; her great grandchildren, Maddy, Ali Dufour, Evva, Avery Bruner and Owen Meyer; her siblings, Bernard Maples and Johnnie Grimes; and her sisters-in-law, Reta Smith (Jim), Betty Cooney and Paula Maples. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
