He was predeceased by: his former wife Janice Mullins; his children, Rose Smith and Matt; and his siblings, Foy, Jack, Buster, Gene, Amos, Andy and JoAnn Steele.
He is survived by: his son David (Tammy) of Hollister; his fiancé Shirley Watson of Jonesville, VA; his sisters, Mae Mullins of Goldsboro, NC, Marie Wallace of Haysi, VA and Debbie Kirby of Goldsboro, NC; and also, Donna, Tim Lock of Jonesville, VA, Rick, Lori Watson of Jonesville, VA, Rex, Lisa McCarty of Gate City, VA and Todd Watson of Abingdon, VA. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, everyone planning to attend the services is asked to wear a face covering and practice social distancing.
