She was predeceased by: her parents, Jim Al Smith and Bertha Collins Smith; her husband Anthony Joshua Hess; her son Roy Lee Hess; her grandson Mark Christopher Hess; and her siblings, Gladys Whittaker, Elsie Brown, Bill Smith, Bob Smith, James Smith and Dempsey Smith.
She is survived by: her children, Teddie Eugene Hess (Ellen) of Aston Park, FL, Gayelena Maupin (Ed) of Princeton, IL and Frances Geraldine Noveen; her granddaughter Toni Martynus of Princeton, IL; her great grandchildren, Aisha Agrue, Alisha Spratt and Evan Bopes; her great great grandchildren, Anthony Agrue, Lyndsey Towne, Caleb Towne, Avery Bopes, Brynley Spratt, Ayden McCarter and Azlyn Bopes; her nephew Curtis Whittaker (Lena) of Richlands, VA.; her daughters, Johnetta Altizer and Kecia Altizer-Perdue; and her close friends, Dottie Owens, Betty Young, Edna Short and Mitchell.
