He is survived by: his parent Goldie Short Mitchell; his daughters, Ginger Davis (Ronnie) of Cedar Bluff, Betty Mitchell of Jewell Ridge and Patricia Hurd (Kenneth) of Bristol, TN; his siblings-in-law, Judy Mitchell of Tazewell, Sandra Sisk (Ira) of Clifton Fork, Frances Meadows (Charles) of Jewell Ridge, VA, Coy Keen (Patsy) of Clifton Fork and Jackie Keen (Melissa) of Oakwood, VA; his mother-in-law Elizabeth Bennett of Clifton Fork, VA; and his grandchildren, Robert Hurd, Rhiannon Hurd and Reagan Davis.
