He was predeceased by: his parents, Garfield Mitchell and Maggie Lee Stinson Mitchell; his son Timothy Mitchell; his granddaughter Tonya Mitchell; and his siblings, Ruby Robins, John Mitchell, Clayton Mitchell and James Mitchell.
He is survived by: his children, Linda Melton of Mount Airy, MD, Troy Mitchell of Jewell Ridge and Marty Mitchell (Melanie) of Hanover, PA; and his siblings, Faye Brown of Frederick, Joanne Plaster of Newport News, VA, Leslie Mitchell of Tazewell and Allan Mitchell of Tazewell. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren.
