She was predeceased by: her parents, John Lanier and Fannie Barksdale Lanier; her husband Bose Mayo; her daughter Brenda Roher; and her siblings, Virginia Grasty, Beatrice Adams, Ethel Miller, Garland and Louis Lanier.
She is survived by: her children, Helen Balthrop (Lin) of Washington, DC, Edward Mayo (Elnora) of Bealton, Ammie Brown of Fredericksburg, Donald Mayo (Ann) of Blairs, Gloria Taylor of Chatham and LaVerne Smith (Vincent) of Landover, Maryland; her son-in-law Oscar Damon Roher of Blairs, Virginia; and her siblings, Zella Logan of Danville, Dorothy Lanier of Danville, Elaine Hunt of Danville, Evelyn Storm of Richmond, Virginia, Leroy Lanier (Gloria) of Maryland, James Lanier of Richmond, Alfred Lanier (Belle) of Danville and Walter Carter (Thelma) of Portsmouth, Virginia. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
