It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary E. Logan (Java, Virginia), who passed away on June 4, 2019, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, James Kates and Harriett Barksdale Kates; her husband James Isaiah Logan; her children, Joyce LaVern Thornhill and James W. Logan; and her siblings, Katherine McMillian, Leon Kates and James W. Kates.
She is survived by: her children, Mary Ann Logan of Charlotte, Pastor Leslie Johnson (Pastor Cary Johnson) of Ashburn, Virginia, Lewis Logan (Barbara) of Java, Bobby Logan of Java and Larry Logan (Katherine) of Lynchburg, Virginia; and her siblings, Sallie Walton of Washington, DC, Ruby Dalton (Alfonza) of West Virginia, Frances White of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Robert Kates (Joyce) of Harrisburg, John Kates of Harrisburg and Carl Kates of Washington, DC. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
