It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Katherine Short of Jarratt, Virginia, born in Sussex, Virginia, who passed away on September 8, 2021, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Simmons and Lula Simmons; and her husband Rev. David A. Short of Jarratt. She is survived by: her children, Rev. Peggy Short, Deborah Short, Ira E. Short (Yvonne) and Gail Carter; her grandchildren, Gerry Short, Terry Kush, Rev. Karen Short-Jones, Sedarous Carter (Monica), Arnechia (Harrison) of Washington and Shade Short; her great grandchildren, Mekonnen, Maryam, Meru Kush, Raequan, Ania, Chance, Kierra, Damera Jones, Jaidah Daniels, Harrison Jr. of Washington and August of Washington; her great great grandchild Averieanne Jones; and her friend Clarence Carter. She is also survived by loving nieces, and nephews, as many family members and friends.
