He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Sandra Throckmorton Harris; his sons, James Lewis Harris Jr. (Connie) of Woodstock and Dr. Clifton Lee Harris (Felicia) of Golden, Colo.; his grandchildren, James L. Harris III, Christian T. Harris of Greenville, S. C, Alan Michael Harris and Alexis Taylor Harris of Charlottesville; his brother Stuart Lee Harris (Sandra) of Richmond; and his parents, Clifton L Harris and Ivy Pollard Harris. He was also cherished by his family, extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Irvington Baptist Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
