He is survived by: his wife Norvella Hunter Burrell; his children, Zachary Mack of Roanoke, Ebbony of Manassas, Russell of Lynchburg and John of Roanoke; his pet Atomic; and his siblings, Kelvin (Bertha Burrell), Emory Burrell of Troutville, Roger Payton (Essie Burrell), Rita Chaney of Roanoke, Janice Burrell of Troutville, Karen Williams of Toledo and Adrian Hancock of Roanoke. He is also survived by nine grandchildren.
