It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Virginia Ray Rector Hawkins of Independence, Virginia, who passed away on December 31, 2022, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ray V. Rector and Arkie Carico Rector; her former husband Dan Warren Hawkins; her brothers, James Carico Rector and Joseph Preston Rector (Pete); her parents-in-law, Dan and Blanche Taylor Hawkins; and her sister-in-law Beulah Hawkins Ward.
She is survived by: her niece Barbara Snyder of Winston-Salem, NC; her great-nieces, Becky Meadows of Easton, MD and Kristie Frazier of Rural Retreat, VA; her great-nephew Doug Snyder of Wilmington, NC; her husband Harold; her goddaughter Wendi (Arthur Pemberton); and her caregivers, Sarah Cox of Independence and Peggy Haga of Independence. She is also survived by many special friends, neighbors.
