He is survived by: his son Richard Dean (Laken Richardson); his fiancée Betsy Barker of Independence, VA; his grandchildren, Mace Richardson and Iyla Richardson; and his aunts and uncles, Nona Richardson of Mouth, Mary Ann "Jim" Billings of Speedwell, VA, Bus (Janice Wood) and Snook (Judy Wood).
The family ask that Joe be remembered by donating to his favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. The family request no food or flowers and all memorials be made to St. Jude Hospital.
