It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Billy Wayne Cornett of Independence, Virginia, who passed away on January 20, 2025, at the age of 66, leaving to mourn family and friends. As Billy Wayne departs from our midst, his spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Billy Wayne. Though Billy Wayne may no longer walk beside us, his legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Harvey and Mattie Marie Tilley Cornett; and his siblings, Jimmy Tilley and Debbie White. He is survived by: his sisters, Rose Marie Cornett of Galax, VA and Sherry Clyburn of Independence, VA; and his stepson Charles (Kiri McHaffey). He is also survived by two step grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, January 27th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel (44 Dan Walters Dr, Independence, VA 24348). A memorial service was held on Monday, January 27th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the same location.
