He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel David Farris, Sr. and Carrie Mae Irby Farris; his son Jared Farris; and his siblings, Kenneth Wayne Farris, Sr., Calvin Farris, Donnie Farris, Ryland Farris, Mary Farris Pugh and Betty Farris Dodds.
He is survived by: his wife Frances Scruggs Farris; his son Shaun Farris (Bethany); and his siblings, Ted Farris (Judy), Roy Farris, Carolyn Hall, Lucy Smith (James), Lois Wheeler (Wayne), Peggy Harward (Calvin) and Judy Ball. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Legion Post 232, P.O. Box 675, Gretna, VA 24557.
