She was predeceased by: her father Dan Thomas Shelton; and her brother-in-law James Roark. She is survived by: her mother Gladys Saunders Shelton of Gretna; her husband Johnny Bailess; her daughter Karen Patrick (Broderick) of Altavista; her siblings, Ed Shelton (Pam Patterson) of Hurt and Penny Mays (Melvin) of Rustburg; her grandchildren, Kayleigh Bailess and Kamden Patrick; and her siblings-in-law, David Bailess (Delores) of Hurt, Frances Shelton (Larry) of Hurt and Martha Roark of Hurt.

She loved to cook, and she loved supporting the Renan Volunteer Fire Department by helping with Christmas time donations.
