She was predeceased by: her parents, Archie Johnson and Mary Johnson Cabler; her daughter Vertna Payne; her adoptive son Andre Coles; and her brothers, Eldridge and Johnny Johnson.
She is survived by: her husband Bishop Allenza Coles; her children, Helen Tubbs (Frederick) of Hurt, Randolph A. Coles of Altavista, Amanda Jones (Reginald) of Hurt, Pastor William C. Coles of Lynchburg, Doris Coles of Hurt, Virginia, James Robertson of Pittsville and Alfonza Witcher of Pittsville; and her siblings, Mary Pannell of Gladys, Stella Myers (Walter) of Altavista, Virginia, Aileen Miller of Altavista, Virginia and Aaron Johnson of Jersey City. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.
