He was predeceased by: his parents, William Tasewell Ward, Sr. and Etta Hammock Ward; his son Donald Dean Ward, Sr.; and his siblings, Wilmoth Dalton, W. T., Ernest, Austin, Stuart and Isaac Ward.
He is survived by: his wife Gladys Brumfield Ward; his children, Kyle Ward (Judy) of Forest, VA, Roger Ward (Donna) of Hickory, NC, Susie Newman (Howard) of Hurt, VA and Glenda Queener (Rob) of Hurt, VA; his daughter-in-law Wanda Ward of Gretna, VA; his siblings, Woodrow Ward (Hilda) and Doris Dearing (Ronnie); and his grandchildren, Melissa Williams, Kelly Daniel (Wes), Addison Ward (Kim), Bridgett Moon (Patrick), Marcia Bradner, Donnie Ward (Jodi), Howard Newman, Jr., Michelle McNelley, Sarah Thorn (Doug), Erin Johnston (Chris) and Tiffany Giles (Joey).
