He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Newton and Helen Gay Chestnut (Hamilton); his brother Nelson; his sister-in-law Joy Chestnut; his sisters, Chloe Miller and Dorothy Chestnut; and his brothers-in-law, Jimmy Cauley, Homer Simmons and Leslie Pritt.

He is survived by: his sons, Darrell Chestnut (Mattie) of Hot Springs, Richard Chestnut (Rita) of Hot Springs, Ralph Chestnut (Patsy) of Warm Springs, Rusty Chestnut (Andrea "Andie") of Williamsville and Robbie Chestnut (Carrie) of Hot Springs; his siblings, David Chestnut of Hot Springs, Carl Chestnut (Joy) of Hot Springs, Berlie Chestnut (Annabelle) of Hot Springs, Lois Cauley of Hot Springs, Caroline Pritt of Hot Springs, Virginia Martin (Lonnie) of Warm Springs, Nora Simmons of Hot Springs and Emmie Gillespie (Jimmy) of Hot Springs; his grandchildren, Catherine Carr, Josh Chestnut, Neal Chestnut, Liza Chestnut, Patrick Chestnut, Morgan Rockett and Britney Via; his great grandchildren, Stetson Chestnut and Hudson Chestnut; and his sisters, Kennedy and Hadley. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
