He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank C Johnston and Louise Woltz Johnston; and his siblings, George E, Frank C, Julian A, James W, Herbert P, Mary L Johnston, Margret J Plugradt, Nellie J Castleberry, Annie L Johnston and Virginia Whittle.
He is survived by: his son Robert Jr. (Vicki); his close friend Priscilla Adams; his brothers, Herman L and Richard T; and his nephews, George "Junie" Johnston and Charles Johnston. He is also survived by 2 granddaughters and 3 great grandchildren.
