He was predeceased by: his parents, Dennis L. Blanding, Sr. and Lily A. Blanding; and his siblings, Nathan, Chester, George, Dennis Blanding, Willie Blanding, Jannie Belle Sykes, Arlene Boyd, Annie Mae Sykes and Dorothy Moore.

He is survived by: his wife Joyce E. Blanding; his sister Lillie M. Johnson; his siblings-in-law, William Irving (Valerie), Jennie Blanding, Eliza Peterson, Florence Tate, James Grammer (Margie), Irene Poindexter, Katherine Grammar, Ethleen Blanding and John Grammer; and his friends, Wilbert and Rose James.
