He was predeceased by: his children, Richard Simms and Omega Ward; and his siblings, Leroy Simms, Irene Ward, Bea Simms, Fannie Gordon and Marie Simms.
He is survived by: his children, Frances Ann Hopkins, Barbara Wright, Rickie Simms (Penny), Ronnie Simms (Theresa), Reggie Simms (Cynthia) and Spencer Carter; and his siblings, Thomas Simms, Raymond Simms and Virginia Weaver. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren and twenty-nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
