She was predeceased by: her parents, Henderson Matney and Jenny Runyon Matney; her significant other Ralph Clifford Hess; her stepgranddaughter Melissa Ray; her son-in-law Wayne Herndon; and her siblings, Ralph Matney, Ora Vance and Lena Looney.
She is survived by: her children, Wanda Reid (Tom) of Chilhowie, Connie Hess of Abingdon, Virginia and Clifford Lee Hess (Cynthia) of Honaker, Virginia; her granddaughters, Jennifer Barnes (Jason) of Chilhowie and Sarah Johnson (Jeremiah) of Nickelsville, Virginia; her stepgranddaughter Michelle Mullins (Greg) of Swords Creek, Virginia; her great grandchildren, Rachael, Will, Max, Colten and Gunner; her stepgreat-grandchildren, Jada, Jayson and Alexia; and her sister Garnie Stacy of Grundy. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
