He was predeceased by: his parents, James B. Murphy and Gertrude Ball Murphy; his wife Anna Mae Hart Murphy; his siblings, Sammy Murphy and Norma Stevens (Dwain); his son-in-law Abby Coleman; and his stepgrandson Shane Coleman.
He is survived by: his children, Patsy Murphy Coleman of Lebanon and Mark Murphy (Delores) of Honaker; his grandchildren, Bradley Murphy and Tiffany Coleman (Richard Ratliff); his stepgranddaughter Jessica Roddy; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Bryson Hilton, Briana Ervin and Briona Coleman; and his sister Ollie Kiser. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
