He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Johnson and Vergie Alline Johnson Musick; and his siblings, Dolly Mae Crabtree, Mary Magdalene Whited, Cathy Lynn Crabtree and Carlos Melvin "Buck" Johnson.
He is survived by: his children, Amy Johnson (Larry Byrd Compton) of Council and Gary Johnson (Keisha) of Rosedale, Virginia; and his siblings, Marvin Johnson (Wanda) of Abingdon, Virginia, Melissa Spencer and Amanda Edge. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
