He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul T. Whitaker and Helen Mae Adkins Whitaker; and his brothers, Paul (Sonny) and David Whitaker. He is survived by: his brother Jack Whitaker of Hinton, WV. He is also survived by two nieces, and three nephews.
