He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Kenneth, Mamie Kern of Stanley Town, VA, Lucy Barnette of Mabe, VA and Virgil Redman of Stanley Town, VA.. He is survived by: his parents, Terry Kern of Hiltons, VA and Faye Boggs of Hiltons, VA; his son Wayland Kern of Kingsport, TN; and his sisters, Heather Vanzant (Stephen) of Church Hill, TN and Amanda Clark (Dustin). He is also survived by 4 nieces, 1 nephew, 3 aunts and 1 uncle.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his mom or dad to ease the burden of costs.
