With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Vera Mae Matthews Semones of Hillsville, Virginia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on March 26, 2025 at the age of 93. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Geneva Matthews and Clarence Matthews; her husband Orba Semones; and her siblings, Raymond Matthews and Gayle Amburn.

She is survived by: her son Jason; her daughter-in-law Anita Semones; her granddaughter Maddie (Austin Horton); her siblings-in-law, Shirley Semones, Esther Bryant, Wilma Matthews, Roger Amburn, Allen Robinson and Norman Semones; and also Ruby Semones.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 1st 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel (1035 N Main St, Hillsville, VA 24343). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 2nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, April 2nd 2025 at the Semones Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Semones Cemetery in care of Kenneth Largen, 2962 Fancy Gap Highway, Hillsville, VA 24343.
