He was predeceased by: his parents, William Edward and Carolyn Johnson Jackson; his brother James Gray; and also Monty. He is survived by: his stepmother Betty G. Jackson; his children, Aaron Jackson (Tessie), Casey Gaffrey (Timothy) and Jordan Jackson (Amber); the mother of his children Kathy Urbowicz; his grandchildren, Nellie, Grace, Mae, Deacon, Parker, Phoebe and Liam; his close friend Simone Hicks; and his siblings, Jane Horne (Bill), Scott Jackson (Sharon), David Gray (Susan) and Wayne Gray (Beth). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
