He was predeceased by: his parents, John Leon Brooks, Sr. and Bessie Irene Manley Brooks. He is survived by: his wife Mary Helen Brooks; his sons-in-law, Sherry Lynn, Ronald Moser of Hillsville, Linda Irene and James Durnil of Hillsville; his son Richard Wayne Brooks, Sr. of Hillsville; his sister Jayne Carpenter of Hillsville; his brother-in-law Henry Carpenter of Hillsville; and also, Larry Brooks, Phyllis Brooks of Lebanon, Dan Brooks, Carolyn Brooks of Hillsville, Bob Brooks of Hillsville, Bill Brooks of Hillsville, Dave Brooks and Dee Brooks of Hillsville. He is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
