He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Boyd (Bud) and Ilean Goff Boyd; his siblings, James Boyd (Jim) and Mary Katherine; and his brother-in-law Bill McCready.
He is survived by: his wife Sonja Burnett Nester Boyd; his daughter Menda; his son-in-law Clay Grooms of Opp, Alabama; his siblings, Bolden (Dee Boyd), John (Brenda Boyd), Sam (Susan Boyd) and Eva Boyd Evans of Abingdon; his stepsons, Randall Nester of Las Vegas, NV and Eric Nester of Fancy Gap; and his grandchildren, Morgan Grooms of Opp, AL and Kaley Nester of Galax.
