He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward and Alice. He is survived by: his children, Brien Hughes (Susan), Steve Hughes (Meagan), Maura MacMahon (Brian) and Phil Hughes (Alyssa); his grandchildren, Anna, David, Daniel Hughes, Payden, Hailey Hughes and Luke MacMahon; his sister Mary O'Brien (George); and the mother of his children Cheryl Hughes Garr. He is also survived by nieces, nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 23rd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Adams-Green Funeral Chapel (721 Elden St, Herndon, VA 20170). A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the St. John Neumann Catholic Church (11900 Lawyers Rd, Reston, VA 20194). A celebration of life will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Red's Table (11150 South Lakes Dr, Reston, VA 20191).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made to the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Legacy Fund.
