He was predeceased by: his parents, William Hairston, Sr. and Minnie Petty Hairston; his wife Barbara Davis Hairston; his son Anthony Hairston; and his siblings, Francis Stone, Mary Jane Millner, Eugene Hairston, William Hairston, Jr. and Howard Hairston.

He is survived by: his children, Kimberly Hairston (Azrael) of Danville, VA, Kevin Tarpley of Mandeville, LA and Steven Hairston of Martinsville, VA. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
