He was predeceased by: his parents, Philip A. Childress Sr. and Juanita Marie Hackett; and his siblings, Ruth C. Stone, Margaret Williams, Lola Singletary and Nathan Childress.
He is survived by: his daughter Ashley Marie Childress; his sisters, Barbara Relf and Brenda Lee Campbell; his aunts, Linda McGann (Richard) and June Colbert; and his friend Reverend Sue Ann Vanderpool. He is also survived by several cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews.
