He was predeceased by: his siblings, Alfreda, Lillian and John; his brothers-in-law, Melvin, Leonard, James and John; his nephews, Mark, Michael and Anthony; and his niece Latonya.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis M. Bell; his children, Carol Anne, James (Roza) and Jeffrey (Grace); the mother of his children Phyllis M.; his grandchildren, James Jr., Trinity Mae, Aya, Jeff Jr., Declan and Asher; his sister Frankie; his siblings-in-law, Mary, Joyce, Priscilla (Larry), Sandy (Ken) and Charles; and his nieces and nephews, Shernita (Brian), Dawn (Sam), Shenitia, Dacia (Joe), Pam (Mike), Kayla (Daniel), Amy (Richard), Melvin Jr., Karl, Brendon, Jeff (Lindsay), Jason, Sean, Marcel and Frank. He is also survived by great nieces, great nephews, cousins, fraternity brothers, and friends.
