She was predeceased by: her parents, Ahmed Abdullahi and Hawa Abdullahi; and her siblings, Abdurazak Ahmed, Mennen Ahmed, Ferial Ahmed and Ibrahim Ahmed.
She is survived by: her husband Negatu Limeneh; her children, Robel Taye of Alexandria, Milka Negatu of Harrisonburg, Dina Negatu (Frederico Jones) of Richmond and Egla Taye (Olana Samuel) of Abu Dhabi; her siblings, Yousuf Ahmed of Ethiopia and Ulufa Ahmed of Ethiopia; and her grandchildren, Lydia, Gabriella, Elsa, Adeline, Raphael and Noelle.
