He was predeceased by: his parents, George Paul and Ruth Lesher Showalter of Broadway; and his siblings, Margaret Showalter, Alice Hartman and John Paul Showalter.
He is survived by: his children, Jane Burgess (Billy), Trent Showalter (Marie) and Amy Leftwich (John); his grandchildren, Isaac Burgess (Lorie), Paul Burgess, Elizabeth Showalter, Ida Fern Swartzentruber (Jeremy), Amanda Showalter (Nathan), Laura Showalter (Joseph), Titus Showalter (Amy) and Joshua Leftwich; his sister Frances Showalter; and also, Engdawork Arefaine (Hamelmal), Asmamaw Fekadu (Woinshet), Tamerat Fenta, Micknai, Seraweat, Bethel and Ealias. He is also survived by 13 great – grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, December 12th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Harrisonburg Church of the Nazarene (1871 Boyers Rd, Harrisonburg, VA 22801).
