He was predeceased by: his parents, George W. Speer and Juliet Emily Speer (Foster). He is survived by: his wife Ann Logan; his children, Ann Speer Mendenhall of Palo Alto, CA, Jenny Speer Burden (Jared) of Harrisonburg and John Foster "Jay" Speer, Jr. (Donn Smith) of Orlean, VA; his grandchildren, Jack Burden, Isabelle Burden, Logan Mendenhall, William Mendenhall and Kathryn Mendenhall; and his children, Victor Wallemacq and Juliet Wallemacq.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests all memorial contributions may be made to the Arts Council of the Valley or the Huntington Symphony Orchestra.
